The Vikings are among the best-known and intriguing characters in world history, but they are also among the least understood. This 40-minute large format documentary film provides a portrait of the Vikings, exploring in-depth their historical and culturalimpact as well as their technological and scientific achievements.

The film takes us through through the lands that the Vikings settled and explored, Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland. The primaryskill that differentiated the Vikings from other cultures in the 9ththrough the 12th centuries was shipbuilding. This is also explored in the film. The Viking ships were fast, light, and maneuverable, enabling them to venture to lands both inland and across oceans that were beyond the reach of other travelers.
